MTS Media releases the first full-length film "Devyataev" in cooperation with Bazelevs and Voenfilm
On April 29, a new military action film by Timur Bekmambetov "Devyatayev" will be released in wide Russian distribution. This is a gripping story of a Soviet military pilot who, once in German captivity, plans to escape by plane from a specially guarded base where the Nazis are developing a secret weapon that can change the course of the war at the last moment. The film is based on the memories of the hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Devyatayev.
Devyatayev will be the first blockbuster that, after being released in cinemas, will be available in an exclusive version on the screens of mobile devices and via Smart TV on TVs: a special version of the film in vertical format will be released on the MTS TV online cinema (multimedia platform of MTS Media).
Pavel Priluchny ("Major"), Pavel Chinarev ("Major"), Alexey Filimonov ("Oxygen"), Daria Zlatopolskaya ("Top Show") and others played the main roles in the action adventure. The film was directed by Timur Bekmambetov and Sergey Trofimov, who worked together on the films Night Watch and Peshawar Waltz. The music for the film was written by Yury Poteenko, winner of four Golden Eagle awards (“Time of the First”, “Inhabited Island”, “Doctor Lisa”, etc.). Director Timur Bekmambetov, known to the audience as the author of spectacular and innovative films both in Russia and in Hollywood (“Night Watch”, “Day Watch”, “Especially Dangerous”, “First Time”) created not just a large-scale military action about the exploits of pilots times of the Great Patriotic War, but technologically unique cinema. In order to recreate the effect of presence during the staging of air battles, so that the viewer could feel in the cockpit of a fighter attacking or breaking into a dive, the actors rehearsed the fights in the online military simulator War Thunder by Gaijin Entertainment. Filming of the film "Devyatayev" was carried out in the pavilions of "Lenfilm" and in Kronstadt. Some of them were held remotely due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I wanted to tell this incredible story in an incredible way. It combines the amazing fate of a person, which changes our ideas about heroism, and a unique episode of the Second World War, which could change the whole course of events at the last moment. This impossible scenario was written by life itself - we just had to figure out how to tell about the hero and the events on the screen, ”comments the director and producer of the film Timur Bekmambetov.

The VoenFilm studio considered it obligatory to take part in this project, for filming we used the technical complex of the VoenFilm film studio, and the Henkel-111 aircraft, which was filmed in the film, will now be part of the studio’s exposition, ”says the co-producer of the project, general director film studio "Voenfilm" Igor Ugolnikov.
