How to survive in the war for the wallet?

15 June 2017

A discount is the best advertisement and the most effective way to attract a buyer. Promotions, systems for accumulating points and bonuses, seasonal and permanent sales - all these are advertising tools and marketing technologies that sellers use to compete for profit. Any boutique, store or supermarket is trying to give the buyer their discount card, some kind of bonus piggy bank, or play an incredibly valuable prize. All this is done so that next time we return to them. Competitors do exactly the same thing: they give cards, sign up for SMS mailing lists, offer promotional goods. There is a real silent war for our wallet. How to survive in this war and get out of it not with losses, but with profit and a small profit?

A discount or bonus card is issued in exchange for an email address or phone number for sending informational messages via SMS or instant messengers

Two big buying problems

We, as buyers, want to buy cheaper.

Naturally, we want to take advantage of all these promotions, discounts and bonuses, because they gradually save our money. 20 rubles discount here, 3% there, 100 accumulated points instead of a hundred rubles here - and a pretty decent amount easily accumulates per month. Why pay more when we have a discount card and you can buy a little cheaper. Great. We take discount cards wherever possible, and after some time our wallet stops closing - there are a whole deck of these cards. And every day there are more and more of them. This is the first problem that an active buyer faces. The second problem is that we want to receive news and respond to all promotions in time.
But this news does not always reach us. As a rule, a discount or bonus card is issued in exchange for an email address or phone number for sending informational messages via SMS or instant messengers. The trouble is that smart smartphones and mail services often filter such messages and e-mail newsletters, sending them to spam without our knowledge. As a result, we miss interesting and profitable offers. What to do?
The classic question that has tormented the Russian intelligentsia for centuries finds its answer in modern technology. It is they that allow you to fit all these discounts, promotions, cards, bonuses and business cards, along with information about sellers and suppliers of goods and services into one small item that is with you 24 hours a day - in your smartphone.

Mobile alternative to plastic.

Mobile alternative to plastic

Today, any more or less large retail chain or individual seller seeks to transfer their loyalty programs to an electronic format using mobile applications for this. Indeed, for a modern person, a smartphone has become no longer a luxurious gadget, a rich toy, but a completely ordinary tool for solving everyday problems.
Time planning, business and personal correspondence, navigators and maps, photos and music - everything fits into one compact gadget. Paying for services using a mobile phone is also quite common. What makes a mobile application great: all loyalty programs, promotions and discounts are transferred to an electronic format. But often, all the functionality of such inexpensive applications comes down to only one function: informing. You receive timely notifications about all marketing activities and nothing more. From the fifth day, a 5% discount, for example. But to use it, you need to come to the store with the same piece of plastic.
It is slightly better if this mobile application is connected to the seller's online store, and the buyer has the opportunity to immediately purchase the product with the proposed discount. But even in this case, we are dealing with the same clutter: if we used to fill our wallets with plastic, now we fill the memory of a smartphone with a dozen or two of the same type of applications. Where is the exit?

Paying for services using a mobile phone is quite common.

The way out is seen in the creation of an application that would combine the functions of storing discount cards from all sellers, a general informant and an electronic wallet. Separately, these components are implemented, and repeatedly. But there is no whole product that would take into account all the interests and wishes of buyers. What would we like?

  • First, keep all the cards in one place, in a single directory. Use them and share such cards with friends, relatives and acquaintances.
  • Secondly, to receive timely information about new promotions and discounts. Also, in a single space, with a single application.
  • Thirdly, to be able to buy at a discount from different sellers, again in the same space, using only a mobile application.
  • Fourth, be able to bargain. That is, ask the seller for a discount. It would be very convenient and useful, in our opinion.
  • Fifth, be able to link a payment card or an electronic wallet to such a service.

Perhaps this is not all wishes. And each of you will be able to supplement the list with something of your own. The main thing is that the creators of mobile services have finally listened to the opinion of customers, and the problem has finally been solved. Literally from day to day, United Discount Information Center LLC, a Russian developer, will present to the general public just such a convenient tool, the UDC Cloud cloud platform and the UDC Wallet mobile application. This is a universal electronic wallet that will be available on iOS and Android.
Let's see how convenient it will be for customers, and how sellers and manufacturers no less interested in such a tool will react to the appearance of such an application.
