"Important people" (Interview with Olesya Sibiryakova)

12 November 2021

The well-known model Olesya Sibiryakova has time scheduled by the minute - shooting, shows, participation in various events. In addition, Olesya devotes a lot of time to raising her children. However, recently a fashion model and a mother of many children has found for herself another important area, which has also become a priority for her. Olesya took up charity work. She is an ambassador for the Important People Charitable Foundation, which provides support to SMA children.

GP: Olesya, you are a famous fashion model, you have collaborated with many premium brands such as Victoria's Secret, D&G, JustCavalli, Nina Ricci. Tell us how you got into the modeling business?

OLESIA: Initially, for me, the modeling business was like an additional income to pay for my education at the university.

I entered the world of fashion solely for these reasons. A designer friend asked me to take part in the show of her new collection. I agreed and after the show I realized that I like it and want to do it further. It was from that moment that my steps in this area began. The modeling business is tough, but castings, rivalries and numerous difficulties only hardened me, and also, it was an income that allowed me to pay for my studies at a university, and studying in America is an expensive pleasure.

GP: How to achieve worldwide success, because not every model succeeds?

OLESIA: Go to your goal and not be afraid of rivalry.

And, of course, always be in shape and do not forget about communication skills. One of the main secrets of any model is to remain yourself, but at the same time having a drive and a special personality. In addition, one must be able to reincarnate - to be different.

GP: What is the most difficult thing for you in the modeling business? And what is the most interesting?

OLESIA: The most difficult thing is when, at the initial stage of your business, you rush around castings from one end of the city to the other.

After all, sometimes there are 7-8 castings a day. And the most interesting thing is to look at the result of your work.

GP: The life of models is a constant self-restraint, serious stresses, including psychological ones… Probably, this is a very difficult job. Why do you think modeling is so popular?

OLESIA: Probably, every girl in her childhood dreamed of becoming a fashion model: she put on her mother's shoes with very high heels and defiled around the room, dressing up in unthinkable outfits and imagining that a photo session was about to begin.

Not everyone's dream goes away, and some then try to translate it into reality, which is far from what it seems. The profession of a model is not just a profession, but a way of life. Eat right, exercise a lot, and work even harder.

HP: Why did you decide to do charity work?

OLESIA: Once, in an interview about my goals, I answered that I wanted to spend most of the money I earned on helping orphans and orphanages.

And I really helped in this way on occasion, but I always wanted to do something more. At one of the events, I was introduced to the management and team of the Important People Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to helping children diagnosed with SMA. Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a devastating disease that is very difficult to treat. A saving injection for a baby with such a diagnosis costs a lot of money, and it is clear that parents cannot afford to collect such an amount on their own in the shortest possible time. This is where the Important People Foundation comes to the rescue and its team, which is not indifferent to the misfortune of others, to which I can proudly include myself today.

GP: What do you do at the foundation? Can your career in modeling contribute to your charitable work?

OLESIA: I organize events.

An important part of the foundation's activities is the collection of funds for the treatment of children, and for this, various events are needed where donations can be collected. Of course, my career in the modeling business can contribute to the work of the fund, because I have a lot of connections both in Russia and abroad. And I will try to do my best to draw attention to this problem and help parents and babies become happier.

HP: How do you define success in life? What do you think it is? What is your biggest success in life?

OLESIA: Success for me is, first of all, achieved goals, properly brought up children and a life in which there is not only harmony, but also help to other people.

I believe that if you have the opportunity to help others, you should definitely do it! This is right.

GP: And what do you think is included in the concept of beauty?

OLESIA: Inner, spiritual and spiritual beauty.

If it is, then outwardly this beauty will radiate a beautiful light.

HP: Your biggest dream...

OLESIA: So that my children grow up to be decent, kind, happy and smart people who will never remain indifferent to other people's pain and problems. I think the best way to raise children is by example. Therefore, today I show my children not only an example of a working and successful mother, but also a person who makes every effort to help others. It's important for me.
