The share of the BMW Group in the Russian market increased by 0.3% and reached 2.8%, which is 0.4% more than that of the nearest competitor. Russia was the only market for the concern, where the final figures of after-sales service turned out to be better than predicted.

“The introduction of lockdowns, office closures and the move to work from home have given the company an opportunity to demonstrate flexibility in process management. We quickly switched to working online, thanks to which we achieved the highest profitability of the business for dealers,” comments Stefan Teuchert, CEO of BMW Group Russia.

In April, BMW Group Russia was the first in the Russian market to launch a full cycle of online car sales, including model and equipment selection, loan calculation and approval, and remote trade-in car valuation.

A feature of the year was record sales in March and a rapid recovery during the second half of the year. Since July, sales have risen steadily, exceeding analysts' forecasts every month.

In the global market in 2020, the BMW Group also leads the premium segment. Worldwide, the concern sold 2,324,809 cars (down 8.4% compared to the results of 2019) and 169,272 motorcycles, which was the second best result in the history of the company.

Demand in the segment is recovering around the world, and the fourth quarter was marked by an increase of 4.3%. Sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in China grew by 7.4% (777,379 units), the best result since they entered the market in 1994. Sales increased by 30.5% (69,872 units) in South Korea, the fifth largest market.

The past year was also a record for BMW M - sales increased by 6% and reached 144,218 vehicles.

The presence of 13 electrified models in the lineup also supported sales growth, with 192,646 all-electric and hybrid BMW and MINI vehicles sold in 12 months.
